Description

The French Institute of Algeria has launched an annual program of high-level scientific stays in the human and social sciences for Algerian researchers wishing to work on archival funds in France, collections of testimonies or questions of memory relating to colonization , the Algerian war, independence and decolonization.

The winner selection committee brings together 4 experts (France, Tunisia, Algeria).

The winners of the scholarship are hosted by a French research team, attached to a higher education establishment or a research organization for a period of 1 to 2 months. An annual seminar brings together the winners.

2 categories of scholarships are offered:

An allowance of €1,704 net per month for a level 1 scholarship: doctoral students* and post-doctoral students who defended their thesis less than 5 years ago

An allocation of €2,055 net per month for a level 2 scholarship: researchers who have obtained a thesis more than 5 years ago

*Doctoral students already registered in France are not eligible.

Eligibility

  • Level 1: doctoral students* and post-doctoral students who defended their thesis less than 5 years ago
  • Level 2: researchers who have obtained a thesis more than 5 years ago.
  • Doctoral students already registered in France are not eligible.
  • The work will be submitted in French.
  • Student or researcher winners are expected to be fully involved in the research life of the host laboratory in France. They will be required to provide feedback on their scientific stay through either an oral communication during the “Mandouze seminar” (fall 2024), or a written report.

The following profiles are ineligible:

  • Candidates of French nationality (single or double).
  • Candidates already in receipt of another French scholarship (Embassy, university, etc.).

The selection will be carried out by an international jury of experts composed of academics and researchers;

The final arbitration will take place in May 2024;

Candidates will be informed individually of the result of their application;

The scholarship must be used until December 31, 2024 at the latest.
